Crates

Getting the perfect crate size for your pet is very important so that your pets are safe and comfortable without you paying excessive airfreight.

The best way to ensure this is by visiting our office at Auckland airport to complete a cage fitting. If you are unable to bring your pet into our office for a cage sizing, we can come to you if you are in the Auckland area.

In cases where you are out of the region, the second best thing to do is to measure your pet. We know that this can be a tricky process, as dogs always assume it’s a big game! That’s why we have come up with a full proof Dogtainers measuring guide:

Measuring Guide

You will need someone to help you measure your pet in this way (this is generally only necessary for dogs):

  1. Back your pet into the corner of a room with one of their sides running down one wall (treat that like it’s a side of their cage) and their bottom just touching the rear wall (treat that as if it is the rear of their cage).
  2. The person with whom they are most relaxed should hold their muzzle to prevent them from moving around too much.
  3. The person doing the measuring should:
    1. Put a finger mark on the wall where the top of their head comes to (ignore their ears - they are meant to fold down).
    2. Put a finger mark on the wall where the tip of their nose comes to (ignore their tail - that's meant to tuck under).
    3. Finally, looking down on the pet from above, measure directly across from one outside shoulder edge to the other.
  4. Now, using the tape measure, measure:
    1. From floor to finger mark on the wall is the pet’s height.
    2. From rear wall to finger mark on the wall is their length.
    3. is their width
