To import a pet is to transport a pet to New Zealand from another country. Wherever you are based in the world, we would recommend speaking to a registered pet transporter in your country of origin. You can check the IPATA members directory here to find a local agent by doing a “search by country:” https://www.ipata.org/ipata-pet-shippers-air-and-ground
Here you can download the General Guidance document and check which category your country of origin is in, either Category 1, Category 2, or Category 3 and follow the accompanying criteria for transporting your pet to NZ from these nations.
We can help you organise your pets’ customs clearance, MPI issued Import Permit (not required for pets entering from Australia), quarantine booking, or MPI inspection, though owners can also do all of these things themselves!
Let us know if we can help with importing your pets today.
