Pet Transport NZ is considered an essential service. Up until the borders closed and the last airlines were grounded, we were working hard for our clients in our office to find viable international pet travel solutions and domestic flights. We continue to work from home, available by phone, email and social media providing the same high level of service and quality consultation as ever before. In the last few weeks we have seen a dynamic shift in the freight forwarding and pet air travel industry. Fielding regular phone calls from airlines and the Ministry of Primary Industries, we shall remain a reliable, credible up to the minute, source of industry information for our clients. These last few weeks have been a time of particularly high stress levels for essential travellers trying to return home from New Zealand with their beloved pets. It was our pleasure to be able to offer the calm reassurance of consistent care to both humans and furry friends in their homeward bound pet transport. Nemo was fortunate to make it on the same flight as his human was as PAX onboard. Not all were so lucky. For those who are still intending to return home after lockdown, we encourage you to keep up with our notifications and updates so you can be ready to move as soon as pet travel embargoes are lifted. Bear and Kaydo the Boxer dogs were bound for Brisbane with another pet travel carrier who withdrew their service when lockdown started. We were fortunate to be able to find a viable travel route to Australia for these pups and their people. With airlines and borders closing by the hour it was not possible for us to offer solutions to all our clients, especially to those travelling further afield. For those intending to fly at the end of isolation we encourage you to use this time at home to prepare for your imminent travel. Our COVID19 blog series will help detail the steps you need to follow to take advantage of the first flight routes when they become accessible. Our littlest passenger this week was Raj the Maltese dog who flew to Perth on Thursday. All of these furry fliers were incredibly lucky to travel aboard the last of the viable pet transport routes during COVID19 lockdown. As things continue to evolve both here and overseas, we encourage you to stay safe in your homes and use this time to prepare for future travel opportunities. Now is the ideal time to commence crate training and as vets are considered an essential service, you can complete your required vaccinations schedule as per usual. Don't forget to wash your dog with soapy water regularly! We are very fortunate to have an open line of communication with both airlines and MPI. Please be aware we are experiencing a higher than usual call volume at this time. Your support and understanding is appreciated. The information we receive from the government and airline will be first filtered to our clients to enable them to make sounds transport plans and then our wider pet travel community online. If you are intending to return home with your pets, either abroad or domestically, we would be happy to help plan your pet transport. A quick call to our phone +6492560999 will redirect you to the pet travel consultant of your choice. Otherwise, we continue to be available by email, via quote request form or follow our updates on social media. We look forward to helping you and your pets return safely home, just as we have been doing for 3 generations. Be safe, be kind, be ready to travel again very soon. Best wishes, Pet Transport NZ.

Moving pets from NZ to Australia is so commonplace for us it often gets overlooked on our blog! Relocating pets to Australia is a simple destination for international pet travel because there are no quarantine requirements for New Zealand pets. Yes you can travel on the same flight to Australia as your pet but it will need to be a morning flight on one of the following airlines: Virgin, Air New Zealand or Qantas.. You should discuss this with your consultant prior to booking flights because your pet and their paperwork need to arrive during customs clearance business hours on the same day. Moving pets from NZ to Australia with us means you can fly your pets direct to: Perth, Adelaide, Cairns, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Coolangatta. Darwin and Canberra are possible with connecting flights. Hobart has no customs clearance facility for pets in Tasmania so your pets must do customs clearance at Melbourne. For any other location not listed above, you can either organise your NZ pets' onward travel from one of the main airports or use the help of one of our expert agents in Australia. Certain ports wont accept pets or large cages so please discuss with your pet transport consultant. Entry requirements for relocating pets to Australia: your pet must be at least 8wks, be microchipped, and within 5 days of departure be issued with a Pet Health Export Certificate. This usually involves a tick flea worm treatment 3 or 4days preflight. Vaccinations are a vet issue and their own definition of pet health. Some vets require vaccinations, some don't. Talk to your consultant if you would like a vet recommended to you or if you have lost your pet health book. If your current council registration has expired, you don't need to renew it before flying. Pet registration is not a requirement. If you would like to go on holiday with your pets we can apply for a short-stay, 30days visa and they wont have to do a blood test to re-enter New Zealand! Win! Whether you are moving pets from NZ to Australia permanently or just popping over for a week or two, Pet Transport NZ have been moving pets to Aussie for over 50years. We know the ins and outs of Australian pet travel how to streamline the process for you. Let us help your pets travel safely with professional pet couriers both here and in Australia. From the outside, Pet Transport NZ looks like cute puppies and fluffy kittens all day long. And it is! But that doesn't cover the complexity of international pet transport. We are proud to be the official pet transporter for the New Zealand Sheep Dog Trial Association and the Paw Blacks. Both champion dog teams are international title holders. Every year we fly their prize-winning trial dogs with their handlers from New Zealand to Australia for their agility competitions.
We also arrange their return pet transport to NZ. Return pet flights are unique to Pet Transport NZ. We are the only pet courier providing round-trips from New Zealand. This is because pet transport, from any country in the world, is actually pet export. The government of the country the pet is leaving must approve the pet is fit to fly and a local pet transporter must oversee this process. We have agents operating in the UK, Europe, USA, Asia and Australia that allows us to provide return services.
Working dogs like these are highly trained to respond to specific command words. Say the wrong thing to the wrong dog and you might have a pre-flight situation at the airport! For this reason, working dogs must be accompanied by their human handlers at all times. Every vet visit, airline and MPI requires the attendance of the human they are trained to respond to.
Moving dogs to Australia is similar for the NZ Police. These working dogs are also trained for particular command words and need to remain with their handlers at all times. When they travel to Australia for specialised training, we assist with their return trips from New Zealand. Flying guide dogs for the Blind Foundation requires human attendance as well
Woody is a wonderful cat we moved to Sydney from Auckland this week. He enjoyed posing for pre-flight pics in our offices at Auckland Airport, showing off his beautiful differently coloured eyes before curling up to sleep in his travel crate. Moving pets to Australia? This cat moved to Sydney in his sleep. He sailed through pet travel certification at Ministry of Primary Industries before jetting off to Australia from New Zealand. As professional pet couriers, we take each international shipment seriously. From the moment your travelling pets leave us at Auckland Airport, we are awaiting your overseas updates. Moving to Australia, all in a days work for this NZ cat, his humans sent us these from Sydney, NSW: "Woody arrived safe and sound a few hours after us. Pick up was very smooth. Here is him getting some well deserved rest after his voyage. He was snoring at the time. Thank you for all your help!" Well done Woody! If you are moving with pets to Australia, contact the only NZ pet courier based at Auckland Airport.
