Moving overseas is heart wrenching stuff. It's exciting and terrifying all at the same time. The UK and London are perenially popular destinations for kiwis and their pets. Unsurprisingly, pet owners will naturally worry about their travelling pets and their long haul flying experience. Long haul flights for pets are a daily thing for the Pet Transport team! We thought we would answer the first thing everyone thinking of moving with your dog (or cat! or both!) to the UK needs to know.
Apart from Crate Training the most important thing is rabies vaccinations, 21days before your pet flies.
Your vet will require proof that your pet is at least 6weeks old and it is essential your pet be microchipped prior to commencing these. If your pet is not microchipped when you start your rabies and travel vaccines, you will need vaccinate them again. Your pets travel vaccinations need to be completed and recorded in your pet's vet book correctly. This is something your pet transport cosultant can and will check with you prior to fly time.
