Moving to Melbourne with your dog couldn't be easier than with Miss May, this lovely heading dog we shipped to Australia this week. Every dog and cat we fly overseas has a unique personality. This loveable pup melted our hearts during the cold weather we had this week at Auckland Airport. Temperament and training go a long way to getting your pet ready for flying overseas. This sweet lady was a joy to take on her pre-flight walk so much so we almost couldn't put her in the travel cage! (almost... she did have a rather important flight to Melbourne to catch after all) Some pets we fly to Australia are snugglers, others are players, but this Melbourne-bound hound was all about the puppy dog eyes! If you are worried about meeting your pets needs on flight day, you can relex. At Pet Transport, we handle the stress of international pet travel for you and your pet to fly safely and happily. Jack the domestic short hair cat flew with Pet Transport from Auckland Airport to London Heathrow this week. This is a sure-fire sign of a great travel companion, his humans have done such a great job with crate training prior to take off, he doesn't want to leave! During the Ministry of Primary Industries vet check, one thing they are looking for is whether your pet calmly accepts their cage. This is why we encourage plenty of crate training and crate play before you fly. Need crate training tips or worried about travel crate sizing? Pet Transport from New Zealand to Australia is where we rack up our frequent flyer miles. Kiwis often move to Australia with their pets - most days of the week actually! Most of our pet lovers who travel to Australia with their cats and dogs will return at some point. Moving pets to Australia from New Zealand is pretty straightforward. Flying pets back to New Zealand from Australia is also fairly simple. \ If your pet has flown to New Zealand from Australia before, and is now heading back over the Tasman, you will need a copy of your BACC. The Biosecurity Authority Customs Clearance certificate is given to every pet arriving to New Zealand. Pets returning to Australia must have this document at their MPI Australian Export Certificate appointment. Contact us for a sample version, or get help requesting a misplaced copy, we're happy to help! Moving overseas is heart wrenching stuff. It's exciting and terrifying all at the same time. The UK and London are perenially popular destinations for kiwis and their pets. Unsurprisingly, pet owners will naturally worry about their travelling pets and their long haul flying experience. Long haul flights for pets are a daily thing for the Pet Transport team! We thought we would answer the first thing everyone thinking of moving with your dog (or cat! or both!) to the UK needs to know. Apart from Crate Training the most important thing is rabies vaccinations, 21days before your pet flies. Your vet will require proof that your pet is at least 6weeks old and it is essential your pet be microchipped prior to commencing these. If your pet is not microchipped when you start your rabies and travel vaccines, you will need vaccinate them again. Your pets travel vaccinations need to be completed and recorded in your pet's vet book correctly. This is something your pet transport cosultant can and will check with you prior to fly time.

Contact one of our Pet Transport consultants today to discuss your travel plans. This lovely lass is Alba, a black labrador dog we flew to the Gold Coast Australia this week. Flying pets to Australia, and especially the Gold Coast is one of the most common pet transport destinations we service. Whether you are flying dogs, flying cats or both, here are our hot Pet Transport tips for moving pets to the Gold Coast, Australia from New Zealand successfully:
3 Do's and Don't's for Moving Pets To Gold Coast: 1. Do let your travelling pets have constant access to their travel cage up until they fly. Playtime, treats, used socks of yours inside? All that good stuff. 2. Don't plan travel on weekends. AQIS ( the Australian Quarantine Inspection Services) are closed on the weekends in Gold Coast (also closed on weekends in Adelaide, Cairns and Darwin) 3. Do skip breakfast! It is more comfortable for your pet to travel on an empty stomach. It also minimised toilet mess for them. We ensure they have a fresh supply of water and pre-flight snacks. Let's talk pet travel crates. For any overseas pet transport, the single most important purchase you'll make is your pet's travel crate. Whether you are moving cats or dogs (or both!) internationally, they will travel in the cargo hold of the airplane. This area for live animals is air-conditioned to the same standard as the seated area for humans. Depending on your pet's destination they could be inside their overseas travel crate for a few hours or a few days. It is our job to ensure your pet be comfortable on their international flight. Your pet travel consultant will top up your pet's water and take care of their pre-flight walkies, cuddles and play. The best travel cage for your pet allows standing room above their head and enough width for them to comfortably lie-down and turn around inside. There are some standard plastic IATA crates that work well for a broad range of cat and dog breeds. Some travelling pets will need a custom wooden cage. Thats why we always recommend bringing your pets to our stock room for a crate fitting. In our travel crate room at Auckland Airport we have wide range of standard plastic travel cages. We also offer a range of new, unused wooden crates and can easily have one made to your pet's specific measurements. If you need help measuring your pet, follow our IATA crate guidelines here or contact one of our travel consultants now to make an appointment for a fitting!
It's not the easiest job, international pet transport. Many of our pet travel consultants are up before sunrise moving early shipments of pets overseas. Once in the office, there are waiting enquiries and travel crate fittings. Pet Transporters need respond to crate training questions before taking more cats and dogs off to pre-flight MPI vet checks. In the midst of all the activity at Cargo Central in Auckland Airport, we have to deal with extreme cuteness levels of our clients pets! All our pet travel clients are invited to take a stroll around our office at Pet Transport and enjoy a little chill time before flying to their new home overseas. This time last month we were all besotted with the antics of two german shepherd puppies Zeus and Bolt. They took a midnight flight to meet their Dad at Miri in Malaysia.
It's always great for family pets to have a travel companion to share their journey. If you have puppies or kittens and you aren't sure when is the best time to fly, contact one of caring travel consultants. They can answer questions about your travel destination, any vaccines you might need and which airline is best for your pet transport consignment. Don't hesitate to contact a consultant now!
